Holistic Benefits of Fiber - Nutrition Facts

Dietary fiber may help prevent colon cancer, reduce blood cholesterol, and help maintain a healthy weight. Fiber is a nutritional powerhouse and benefits holistic health and wellness.

Dietary fiber is a member of the carbohydrate family and consists of fruits, vegetables, and the outer linings of seeds, grains, nuts, and beans. Dietary fiber comes in two forms: soluble and insoluble fiber. The human body needs both types to be healthy.

Soluble fiber lowers cholesterol because it blocks fat absorption in the blood stream. Insoluble fiber helps with weight loss because it fills you up without adding all the extra calories. It also adds bulk to your diet and sweeps away toxins and undigested foods from the colon.

Boost your nutrition. Include dietary fiber in your daily nutrition plan to maintain a healthy, holistic lifestyle.

Nutrition Facts: Eat Breakfast and Lose Weight

If you want to lose weight and control blood sugar peaks and valleys, breakfast is truly the most important meal of the day. By just including a good source of protein at the start of your day as your morning meal, you can stabilize blood sugar levels and reduce sugar cravings. Minimize carbohydrates and focus on proteins and you will have an excellent start to any day or holistic weight loss program. My favorite: 2 hard-boiled eggs with fresh fruit juice.

Here's a quick idea for a healthy, nutrition-filled breakfast shake:
  • 1/2 cup fruit juice
  • 2 cups of soy or oat milk
  • 2 tablespoons of protein powder
  • 2 tablespoons of old-fashioned oatmeal
  • 1 teaspoon flaxseed or flaxseed oil
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend on high for about a minute. This makes a single serving. Enjoy.
